Well, the New Year is here and I’m hoping that everyone has had a good start as I certainly did. It’s been quite a busy one hence I could not update the blog or have any new write-ups. And so, to get the ball rolling for the year 2015 and away for the usual British and German automobiles, I’ll be doing a write-up on a 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV Series 1.
This
particular model will look similar to one that I have written on before, the
Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior as they are both derived from the same 105/115
chassis. Most of the models looked quite similar except for a few minor
cosmetic changes inside and out as well as mechanically with different models
having different engines. The 1750 GTV we’re discussing here of which the GTV
stands for Gran Turismo Veloce (Veloce means ‘fast’ in Italian) is an
immaculate condition one that I managed to catch at an autoshow here somewhere
last year.
These
models of the 1750 come with a 1.8 litre 4 cylinder twin cam engine of which
Weber carburettors were commonly used to power them except for the US market
where they were fuel-injected. There were a lot of changes and modifications
made to this car that set it apart for the previous models which included the
chassis design, rim size, suspension and brakes. The interior as well received
an uplift which included a new dashboard design among others.
So to cut
the story short, here are a few shots of the car. Unfortunately I didn’t take
many shots of it but hope it would suffice for those Italian car fans out
there and as always I've included a short video on it. Since we’ve got the ball rolling for the year, do look out for more
write-ups on rare and classic automobiles in the months to come and also the updating of our pages.
